A LETTER TO MY MOM ON HER BIRTHDAY

On your birthday, one of the most special days of the year, I’m writing you a post to explain just how grateful I am for you in my life, even though I have already wrote you a card to go with your gifts. First off, I wouldn’t be writing this card if you didn’t go through the excruciating pain of having me in the first place. So thank you for that all those years ago. From there you put up with my constant shenanigans, and from what you’ve told me, it wasn’t easy (I was a crier and then an attention hog). God bless Dragon Tales for keeping me busy long enough for you to get a nap in here and there. As I got older, you experienced many firsts with me, like my first day of school, my first friends, my first time using the oven to cook, my first phone, my first year of high school and now my first boyfriend. And let me just say that I couldn’t have made it this far without you by my side all the days of my life. You may think that as I’m getting older I’m not needing you as much because you aren’t feeding me and watching me, but now I need you just as much to support me in my hobbies and give me advice when I need it.
Being the age I am now, I’m finally able to start giving back to you for all the things you’ve given me over my lifetime. I’m able to help with housework now, and help take care of my younger sister, Elizabeth and soon I’ll be able to drive as well. But besides the physical things, I’m now able to help you like you’ve helped me the past few years in particular. I’m now your biggest cheerleader along with my dad, and will always be willing to talk and help you make decisions when you don’t know what to do. You’ve always been able to inspire me to be the best person I could be, and now I’m going to do the same for you. I want to be able to make you happy when you are sad, and strong when you feel weak. I’ll always be your biggest fan for the rest of my life.

On your birthday this year, I hope you have a good day. Where you can do what makes you happy and be yourself. Hopefully, you will realize that’s what you should be doing every day of the year. With the turning of a new leaf in your life, I wish you the best of luck on your amazing journey of starting a new career and taking in life more and more each day.

Everyone out there should make sure to take the time to show gratitude for their mother’s no matter what day of the year and no matter the age. A mother’s job doesn’t seem like an easy one, and hearing that what they are doing is making a difference in someone’s life can make their day, maybe even their week.

I’m proud to call you my mom. I love you.
