Growing Happiness

Remember, happiness is a way of travel, not a destination. -Roy Goodman

Hi guys, today I want to spread some self-love and write about how I’ve changed over the past year and how happy I am with my journey getting there and where I am at now. If you guys want to tell me your stories and tips about how you grow your happiness and your confidence leave them in the comments or tag me in your blog posts, because I would love to read them!

I went into the school year this time around with a completely new perspective on myself and on my life from when I arrived last summer. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I realized some really important things regarding what it means to grow as a person and how happy I have been now that I know how to allow myself to do so. I had a type of epiphany that reminded me that the less I try to cram myself into what other people are, the happier I am going to be, and the less I try to make the days fly by, the more enjoyable the days will be. I realized I have to spend my time allowing myself to grow and finding new excitement in the life I live instead of using my time in high school to create a person that impress colleges and not myself, the happier I am going to be.  Continue reading

Update #5 – School, Reading Slumps, and Harry Potter

Hi, everyone! I know I haven’t been very active recently but there were a few things getting in the way of me being very productive. Not only have I been in a sad reading slump for the past like month and a half, but because I have also been in school focusing on homework, tests, and balancing time with friends and family.

If anyone has any tips for getting out of a reading slump, they would be very much appreciated. Currently, I am easing myself back into reading by rereading Harry Potter (before I read The Cursed Child), because all I felt like doing was rereading something. It’s my first time rereading the whole series, and so far it has been a lot of fun. Rereading it is nothing like reading it for the first time. It is like you are visiting a familiar family, comfortable, relaxing, and welcoming. However,  it is still such a weird feeling for someone who likes to read as much as I do, to just not feel like reading.  Hopefully, reading for English class will be able to get me a little more on track as well, considering we have a lot of great books this year, unlike my last year’s curriculum.

On top of not feeling like reading, and in turn not having any reviews to write; my weeks and weekends have been jammed packed, with little time to really sit down and write posts. During the week, anytime I am not in school or at clubs, I am usually doing homework or working on guitar or watercolors (two things I am taking classes for at school, and therefore am working on improving). And when I finish that, all I really feel like doing is watching an episode of something on Netflix and falling asleep halfway through. Then the weekend comes, and Friday and Saturday I usually spend the days with my friends and family, with little time besides in the morning or at night. Finally, Sunday comes along, and all I do is homework. I try to prepare best I can for the next week, and try and get in some personal stuff I want to do, which is basically the only time I write blog posts anymore, or clean my room or anything. Don’t get me wrong, I do really like the routine of school, and how you see your friends much more often, but unlike the summer, there isn’t much downtime unless I actually plan it myself.

I’m hoping to start more of a routine when it comes to writing posts, because believe me I love writing them and getting to read all of yours, but if I don’t pay attention, the weeks slip away very quickly, and before I know it I haven’t written anything in two weeks! So keep an eye out for more posts from me, most likely to be posted on Mondays, just to change up my schedule a little bit from my previous Wednesday posts. I will be on reader checking out some of your stuff as soon as I am done with this post! See you all soon!

The Martian Review

Hey, Guys! Before I get into my actual review here, I just wanted to thank all of you guys for subscribing to my blog! I currently have 130+ followers and while it may not seem like a lot to you guys, it is more than I ever thought would be actually seeing my blog, so thank you! Also, I apologize for not posting many book posts recently because I am in the middle of reading a lot of books, and unfortunately not finishing any. In order to restore some balance to my blog, I decided to finish this draft I started back in June and share with you guys what I thought of The Martian! Continue reading

Suicide Squad Review

Hi, everyone! Today I finally had the opportunity to go see Suicide Squad! The hype surrounding this movie has been absolutely insane, and I was looking forward to seeing it from the very first trailers and rumors were released. And while it didn’t live up to my every expectation, it was still pretty frickin’ awesome.

Before I get into specifics, I just want to say that I gave this movie a solid 8/10, and I really enjoyed watching it! Just because I have critiques to the movie doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. ALSO SPOILER WARNING! I TRIED MY HARDEST TO MAKE A NON-SPOILER REVIEW BUT I JUST COULDNT CONTAIN MYSELF AND HAD TO TALK.  Continue reading

Keeping A Vacation Journal

I get it. When you’re on vacation, all you want to do is bask in the moment. Live in the moment, take in everything around you, the sights, the sounds, the smells, everything. And while you’re in the moment, it feels as if the feeling will never go away, but if you really want to be able to remember everything your best bet is to document it through a journal. Not only will a journal help you remember the details, but it is proven to be good for your mental state as well, seeing as it helps you destress and reflect on the experiences you have had that day. I always find time to journal while on a trip for those reasons exactly, and here are some of my tips to keeping one (and staying motivated.)  Continue reading
